Housing Justice Bills

Nevada is in a housing crisis—and our leaders must act now.

Families are being priced out of their homes. Rents are skyrocketing. Corporate landlords are buying up entire neighborhoods. And across the state, our unhoused neighbors are being criminalized instead of cared for.

This didn’t happen by accident.

In the 2023 legislative session, Governor Joe Lombardo vetoed every single housing bill. Since then, we’ve seen:

  • A rise in evictions
  • Soaring rent and hidden fees
  • Corporations buying up homes
  • More arrests and harassment of unhoused Nevadans

Enough is enough.

Housing is a human right. These bills are the bare minimum of what our communities deserve.

AB 452 PASSED

Nevada families deserve fair energy bills — not surprise spikes.

AB 452 is a powerful step toward energy justice in our state, and we need your voice today.

This bill would:

✅ Require NV Energy to share the burden of rising fuel costs — not just pass them to us

✅ Encourage lower energy prices by holding utilities accountable

✅ Extend review timelines so the public has more time to respond to rate hikes

✅ Ensure customers get full refunds + interest when they’re overcharged

💡 AB 452 puts the people before profit. It brings transparency, fairness, and stability to our utility system.

Here I Pod, Season 2 Episode 3: Generational Bills and August Recess Opportunities

In the latest episode of Here I Pod from ELCA Advocacy, host Regina Banks speaks with Silas Kulkarni, director of strategy and advocacy for ELCA Witness in Society. They discuss how the ELCA has advocated at the federal level around budget reconciliation and rescission bills, as well as the opportunities for advocacy during August Recess, when members of Congress return to their districts and are available for meetings with their constituents.

We will then hear from Rev. Michael Wilker about how advocacy can start at August Recess and lead to even more opportunities throughout the year to engage on issues that concern you and your community.

AB 458 PASSED

Imagine living in affordable housing powered by the sun — with lower utility bills and cleaner air.

AB 458 makes that possible by allowing solar energy on multifamily affordable housing properties.

This bill will:

✔️ Lower electricity bills for residents by up to 20%

✔️ Help properties access federal clean energy funds

✔️ Support good-paying jobs in Nevada’s solar economy

It’s a win for working families, our climate, and our future.
