AB 461 is now law in Nevada! This bill strengthens protections for older adults and people with disabilities by ensuring better education on long-term care planning and studying improvements to Nevada’s guardianship system. LEAN celebrates this as a win for dignity, justice, and compassionate care.
What AB 461 Does:
- Establishes a public education program to help Nevadans understand their options for long-term care planning.
- Requests the Guardianship Commission to study and recommend improvements to the state’s guardianship system, ensuring that vulnerable Nevadans are treated with dignity and safeguarded from harm.
At Lutheran Engagement and Advocacy in Nevada (LEAN), we see this as a faithful step forward. Our Lutheran tradition teaches that every person is a beloved child of God, deserving of compassion and justice. AB 461 helps families prepare for the future while working to protect those who may be overlooked or exploited.
This is advocacy in action—working together so that Nevada’s elders and neighbors with disabilities are valued and supported.
