Nevada’s Family Farms Need Us

Nevada’s food and farm communities just got some tough news: the Southwest Regional Food Business Center—a lifeline for small and mid-sized farms—is being shut down three years early.

That’s $3 million in federal funding lost.
93% of Nevada farms are family-owned, but without this support, they miss out on critical tools like cold storage, transportation, and marketing.
The center had $900,000 set aside for Nevada farm grants, but now less than half will reach our farmers.
In just two years, the program supported 170 Nevada farms and food businesses—proof that it worked.

This isn’t just about farmers. It’s about food security, resilient communities, and our local economy.

At LEAN, we believe a just food system is a resilient food system. We’ll keep advocating so Nevada’s family farms aren’t left behind.
