Hiking, biking, camping, or kayaking—Nevada’s public lands are your backyard playground. What’s your go-to outdoor activity?

My favorite are the Wild Horses that graze along the south shore of Washoe Lake.

Across Nevada, our cities are pushing anti-camping ordinances backed by business associations and developers, which target unhoused neighbors in the name of “cleaning up” communities.

These laws don’t solve homelessness — they criminalize it.

They claim we will first direct them to social services, then vote to cut these same social programs in the name of fraud and waste.
They exist because systems of power still choose profit over people, and silence over dignity.

We believe in a different way.
Housing, not handcuffs.
Dignity, not displacement.

Community, not criminalization.

We’re organizing to end this cycle of cruelty.

September is Hunger Action Month, and LEAN is challenging Nevada congregations to raise awareness about the hunger problem in our community. It’s easy to get involved, and your participation can provide meals for our hungry neighbors. Make a difference in the fight against hunger by taking part in any of the activities or events listed below.

Wear orange on Hunger Action Day, also known as Orange Day, on Tuesday, September 9th.

• Host a Food Drive at your church.

• Volunteer at your local food bank Northern Nevada Food Bank or Three Square Las Vegas.
