Luke 10 Congregations

Luke 10 Congregations: Equipping Churches to Do Justice is a training program for Christian churches, co-led by the Kairos Center and Showing up for Racial Justice (SURJ). This 9-month program equips congregations to understand Christian Nationalism’s relationship to poverty and racism, examine how these are manifesting in their communities, engage in justice work alongside local partners, and reclaim the biblical, theological, and spiritual underpinnings of the gospel call for justice and abundant life for all people.

At this critical moment in history, when Christianity is being distorted and weaponized, churches can – and indeed must – play an important role in rebuilding community connections, meeting urgent needs, confronting and resisting attacks on the poor and marginalized, and casting a vision for the just and inclusive society we are called to build. The Luke 10 Congregations program is designed to support congregations in meeting this moment, while creating a supportive network of congregations who are all seeking to do this work in their respective communities.

The next round of Luke 10 Congregations will begin in September 2026, and applications will be due June 1, 2026.

We will hold virtual informational sessions for interested congregations on the following dates and times:

  • Thurs. 11/20 @ 12:30pm ET / 9:30am PT
  • Tues. 12/9 @ 7pm ET / 4pm PT
  • Thurs. 1/22 @ 12pm ET / 9am PT

Special Session Starts Today!

The Nevada Legislature will convene a Special Session starting today. Pastor Paul will be present at the Legislature at 10 AM to witness and engage in this important moment.

We invite you to stay informed and find ways to advocate for affordability and stability for Nevada’s most vulnerable residents. Together, we can ensure that every Nevadan has access to safe housing, fair wages, and a community that cares.

ELCA Action Alert

The United States is missing from important climate talks – leaving our global neighbors without a vital partner in caring for creation.

From Nov. 10-21, 2025, global leaders gather in Brazil for the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) and the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. COP30 will be a pivotal moment for countries to renew commitments to limit global warming and to ensure care and resilience for communities most impacted by climate change.

“According to Genesis 2:15, our role within creation is to serve and to keep God’s garden, the earth,” reads the ELCA social statement Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope, and Justice. Our wellbeing is bound together with that of our global neighbors, and these negotiations invite the United States to act faithfully and justly in response to its share of the global climate burden.

Together, let us call on our elected leaders to renew U.S. participation and engagement with the Paris Agreement —walking in accompaniment with those most affected by climate changes and working toward justice throughout all creation.

Our faithful action today helps remind our leaders that the United States must stand with, not apart from, the global family of creation. Take action here with your own message!
