Jesus didn’t come to make life cozy—he came to shake us awake.
This Monday, let faith move you, truth guide you, and love drive you.

1 in 6 Nevadans — nearly half a million people — rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to put food on the table.
Trump’s recently signed “Big Beautiful Bill” threatens to take that daily bread away from thousands of families in our state.
This isn’t just about numbers. This is about children going to school hungry, seniors choosing between food and medicine, and families already struggling being pushed deeper into crisis.
As Lutherans, we pray “Give us this day our daily bread.” That prayer calls us to act so all may share in God’s abundance.
LEAN will continue to advocate for food justice in Nevada and ensure our communities are not abandoned in the name of politics.

WIC Funding in Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Appropriations
On August 1, 2025, the Senate, by an overwhelming vote of 87-9, advanced bipartisan legislation that provides $8.2 billion for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), a $500 million increase from FY 2025 to meet anticipated participation, while safeguarding the cash value benefit (CVB) that allows WIC participants to purchase fruits and vegetables. The legislation continues the nearly 30-year bipartisan commitment for the program. See FRAC’s statement.

What is WIC?
WIC provides free, healthy foods and personalized nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to other services. From the moment a mother finds out she’s expecting until the child turns 5, WIC provides extra support to help keep her family healthy. WIC uses Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, which work just like a debit card. Participants can also save time with virtual appointments in many locations.
Take Action
Looking for ideas for August Recess? Use the FRAC Action Network to easily send a pre-populated email, or craft your own, to urge your House Members to speak out and support the WIC funding in the Senate-passed appropriations bill — a level expected to ensure that all those who apply can participate in WIC and receive the full CVB benefits.

Nevada is one of the sunniest states in the US, making it an ideal location for solar energy.
