Henderson may adopt Data Center Moratorium

In recent weeks, communities across Nevada have been taking a closer look at data center development. The City of Reno approved a moratorium on new data center applications while city leaders work to develop comprehensive regulations addressing issues such as water use, energy demand, noise, air quality, and public safety. Sparks has also been discussing how to approach future data center development, and now Henderson appears poised to consider a similar temporary pause on new applications.

Lutheran Engagement and Advocacy in Nevada (LEAN) will continue to follow this issue closely. Data centers have become one of the most significant topics discussed by Nevada’s interim committees, local governments, utilities, and community organizations. As we prepare for the upcoming legislative session, we will continue monitoring proposals, regulations, and community impacts across the state.
