Western Voters Strongly Support Public Lands including Nevadans

A new poll shows that 80% of Nevadans oppose selling public lands to private interests, with nearly two-thirds saying they strongly oppose the idea. The message is clear: our public lands belong to all of us—not just today, but for future generations.

As people of faith, we believe God’s creation is a gift entrusted to our care. In Genesis, humanity is called to “till and keep” the earth—to steward it with wisdom, justice, and humility.

  • In Nevada, public lands are more than acres on a map. They are:
  • Places of recreation and renewal.
  • Watersheds that sustain our communities.
  • Habitat for wildlife.
  • Shared spaces that belong to every Nevadan.
  • Part of our responsibility to care for creation.

We know Nevada needs more affordable housing. But we also believe we can build housing in smart, sustainable ways that protect the landscapes that define our state rather than relying on large-scale sales of public lands.

Faith calls us to seek the common good—for our neighbors today and for generations yet to come.
